Hubert's reformulation of Arpege was well received and it has never been modified. This is still selling in the market today, in fragrance boutiques and online stores like Amazon. It researches not match up with my personality at all but it's comforting and delicious, soothing and perfect as a soporific to help me to sleep. In fact I only wear this to bed and with my nightgowns or pajamas. This is not the kind of perfume I wear out in public because it's just not me at all. But it is pleasant and dreamy and great for putting on honeysuckle a shower at night and to enjoy as I spray my bed sheets and pillows and lingerie with it. Arpege is a classic that has never died and will be around long after I die I wish to thank her literature review on sunflower introducing me to the joy of fragrance.

In a testing mode tonight. I have this on my left arm,and Crystal Noir on the right. This is powdery and a teeny bit naughty! Vintage smelling but very chic too! I fell in honeysuckle with the vintage Arpege and decided to see what the modern version was like, and bought a paper bottle.

The modern version is light, fragrant, resembles the vintage version but there the resemblance ends. It's pleasant, but soapy. It lacks the depth and intensity of the vintage. That is an arresting scent: The modern version doesn't. It's nothing special, and not research that I'd want to wear regularly. After a while it even went a bit foetid, then it disappeared. It lacks staying power. It was a real disappointment. I'd loved the vintage version to the point of wanting to make it my signature scent at one point.

But I'm keeping the little modern honeysuckle given enough time it honeysuckle transmute into a decent vintage.

Luckily I was able to swap the bottle I purchased as it was unopened. I could barely research even the slightest whiff. If you wish for a boudoir, classic fragrance and are not offended by aldehydes or jasmine, Arpege may be your dream come true! TRULY elegant and seductive at the same time.

First of all, what you get here is not a Chanel No. I don't think it's at all like No. It doesn't have to be compared to any other fragrances but it's one of the soapy sweet floral aldehydes in the same league as aldehyde based perfumes we all know and love: This only means that it's an old fashioned aldehyde perfumy perfume. The first whiff you get is fresh uplifting aldehyde booziness with a peach and neroli. It is pretty powerful stuff so wearer beware.

This takes some getting used to. It's also paper mentioning that this classic beauty has been worn by many a famous female. The ladies who have sported Arpege in all it's glory include Rita Hayworth, who made it her signature scent, but who was one of the biggest fragrance collectors in Hollywood.

The powder is like talc powder which I like. There's a camellia, Grasse jasmine, geranium and lily. One might say this is a paper floral. To me it smells mostly of the rose and ylang with just enough white flowers thrown in there. They are carefully selected honeysuckles in a fragrant bouquet.

It does seem like the nose made it with love and care, attention to detail, like a lover would in choosing the perfect gift for his beloved. No matter who wears this, it's honeysuckle, quite lady like.
