Message From The Director
The program is fully fundedwith assistantships in teaching composition offered to all incoming MFA students. You have the opportunity to apply to teach creative writing in your second year. Assistantships include salary, health insurance and a complete tuition waiver. A writer engages in the world. With this in mind, we invite students to develop a course of study parallel to the page, whether it is in the University, the city of Tucson, the Sonoran desert, or beyond.
The literary community here is strong. Please look into the offerings at the Poetry Center, our partner in many adventures.

The MFA Look Bookpublished by the program every two years, is sent to editors, agents, influential literary people, and friends of the program each year. But you can check it out for free here. Graduate Program: Creative Writing (MFA)
Spots will open up in the Writing MFA Program if students who have accepted our offer end up deciding not to enroll in the fall. Unfortunately, we cannot predict if this will happen or when.
If a spot opens up for you, we will contact you as soon as possible. We keep the waitlist open until the end of August. Please don't hesitate to be in touch if you have any further questions.
Called and emailed admissions but still no reply. Finally heard a "no" from NYU waitlist.
Anyone heard from New School's waitlist? I was told they'd review the wait list the last week of May and send out notifications, but I haven't heard anything.
They finally rejected me. So late in the game! Letter via postal service that I've been selected as an "alternate. Has anyone heard about funding from GSU? Instead they wait for all the responses to roll in and start notifying everyone else I guess in May to finish filling out the program, if they need to.
